Bill and Nancy Strand moved from Fort McMurray to Edmonton with their two youngest boys in 1990. When choosing a neighborhood, they looked for something within walking distance to the engineering firm that Bill was joining on 124th Street. Westmount was a good choice, as its central location was also great for Nancy who worked for ATB.
The house they chose was a small, older home with a big yard for Bill's vegetable garden. They soon fell in love with their neighborhood - with its mature trees, nearby park, and really nice neighbors.
They found that quick access to the Yellowhead Highway, and proximity to shopping at Kingsway, Westmount, and Oliver Square was very handy. Being close to downtown was also a bonus when attending events at the Citadel and Winspear. The Westmount Public Library (now Woodcroft) became a big part of Nancy’s life.
